Creating an ASCII resume is actually very simple.

ASCII which is pronounced "askee" is an acronym which stands for American Standard Code for Information. With a lot of other people using different word processing software, this type of font allows anyone to read your information on their computer and print it as desired. This is the easiest type of text to use.

Constructing your resume.

You can write your resume in any word processing software you choose. When you save your document, be sure to save it as a text-only document. When you click "save as" you may see this extension "RTF" which means Rich Text Format. Save your resume in this format. If you software does not have this extension, look for "txt". You may also use Notepad to create your resume in as well which is the preferred method.

When writing in ASCII text, please remember that you cannot use any special formatting of your resume. It may look strange, but it is widely accepted on the internet for resumes.
